How long will my project take to complete?

Every project is unique. Generally, we are able to get most painting and carpentry projects done within a few weeks, but this can vary with weather as well as scope and size of the work.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payments by check, Chase Quickpay transfer, and accept most major credit cards.

What products and materials do you use?

We work closely with top painting and building material suppliers in the area to provide multiple options to our clients.

We recommend Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore for most painting projects, but if you have a specific preference we are more than happy to accommodate.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

3rd Gen Painting and Remodeling is fully licensed, bonded, and carries a liability insurance policy of $1 million dollars along with full workers compensation coverage.

In addition, we are fully licensed to work in both Wisconsin and our other home location in Illinois.

We pride ourselves in safe and quality work, but want to make sure our clients are protected in a worst case scenario.

What should I expect during the initial estimate?

3rd Gen’s knowledgeable team members will meet with you in person, gather information about your specific project needs, and share their recommendations in order to provide you with a customized estimate that fits both your project requirements and budget.

We will then do a full walk-through of your project with you so they can provide you with a custom detailed estimate in a timely manner.

Depending on the nature of the project, we usually would be able to produce a written estimate on the spot that day or within 24 hours.

What should I look for in a contractor?

Though painting and remodeling isn’t rocket science, there is a vast difference in quality that results from what is done before the paint is applied. We recommend you look for a contractor who pays extra attention to the prep work details because we know from experience how important it is.

One of the biggest differences among contractors is their ability to communicate and follow through on their promises. Find someone who really listens to your needs during your consultation and does what they say they are going to do from the very beginning.

What type of warranty do you provide?

All of our standard painting projects come with a two year written guarantee. Our carpentry and remodeling projects come with a standard one year written guarantee.

These are our minimum guarantees and we are confident our work will last much longer than our warranty.

Why is there often such a difference in price from one contractor to the next?

In the home contracting world, you get what you pay for. A combination of skilled labor, attention to detail, high quality materials, and customer service influence the price and quality of a project directly.

As a policy, we do not cut corners to undercut our competition. We carry full insurance and liability coverage on all our work and guarantee all work. Quality work and an amazing customer service experience come standard with each project.

We will be happy to break down any difference in pricing between estimates you have already received and option out items in order of priority.

Who will be there to answer questions and concerns throughout my project?

From the very first consultation to the final walk-through, you will work directly with the same representative you met with originally to ensure clear communication every step of the way.

What if I need help selecting colors?

We know that colors can be tough to choose. We perform a complimentary color and design consultation prior to the start of your project. We will even recommend a few of our favorite local paint stores if you want to take a look at a few options on your own.

During your color and design consultation, we provide you with our recommendations and various tools to help you make the right decision based on your preferences.
